More than 100 rectors and vice-rectors from 30 universities to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on higher education
The University celebrates the fourth edition of the Course on Strategic Management of Universities, with speakers from Harvard, Pennsylvania or Texas, among other institutions.

The University of Navarra will hold the fourth edition of the Course on Strategic Management of Universities, aimed at university rectorial teams, in Madrid from June 4 to 6. Under the title "Artificial intelligence and university governance. How to understand artificial intelligence and its impact on university governance", it will bring together 120 executives from more than 30 universities from fifteen countries and five continents.
The program, organized by the Center for University Governance and Reputation of the academic institution, will analyze the transformative reach of AI and its impact on university institutions. To this end, it will be organized around four modules: Strategic Management; Understanding AI; Working with AI; and Leading with AI, which will be addressed by 14 experts in the field.
The course will begin with a presentation by Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, professor of Communication and former rector of the University of Navarra, who will reflect on university governance. Likewise, Peter Eckel, Director of Leadership Programs at the Graduate School of the Pennsylvania University, will speak on strategic planning in the university; and Tania Rhodes-Taylor, Executive Director of Communication and External Affairs at King's College London, will focus on the development of the brand and reputation of universities.
The second block will focus on the value that AI brings to university governance and will feature, among others, Klara Jelinkova, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Harvard University, who will highlight approaches to integrating cutting-edge research and technology into academic curricula and organizational operations.
Meanwhile, the module "Working with AI" will include sessions by Jesús López Fidalgo, director of the Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence-DATAI at the University of Navarra, who will present how to incorporate AI for the achievement of strategic objectives; and Daniel Peña, rector of the University Carlos III of Madrid between 2007 and 2015, who will discuss how AI should be incorporated into the improvement of key university processes.
Finally, the "Leading with AI" module will feature Karl Miller Lugo, vice president for Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Texas at San Antonio, who will talk about strategies and innovations to boost university fundraising; and Nuria Oliver, director of the ELLIS Alicante Foundation, who will discuss the ethical challenges of artificial intelligence in decision making. The program also includes Sampsa Samila, Marta Elvira, Julián Villanueva and Juan Manuel del Toro, professors at the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra.
The course sessions will be in Spanish and English, with simultaneous translation system for the attendees.
Center for University Governance and Reputation
The University of Navarra's Center for University Governance and Reputation promotes training and research on the governance and reputation of higher education institutions. Its objective is to promote training and research activities on university management and governance, corporate reputation and the management of intangibles in higher education institutions. Numerous rectors, vice-rectors, deans and academic managers from around the world have collaborated in its initiatives.
